(HealthDay News) -- Kidney stones are small, hard formations of various materials that can be found in the urine. By making some changes in your diet, you may be able to reduce the risk of kidney stones.
The U.S. National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse lists these dietary changes that may help:
  • Drink 2 to 3 liters of fluid (preferably water and some citrus drinks) a day.
  • Cut back on salt in your diet.
  • Limit the amount of animal proteins you consume.
  • Reduce your intake of oxalate-rich foods, such as wheat bran, nuts, rhubarb and spinach.
  • Get plenty of dietary calcium through foods or supplements.
