EB-CLINET: Clinical Network of EB Centres and EB Experts

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic skin disease which affects approximately 30.000 people in the EU. In 2005, we established the EB House Austria, a special clinic for the care of EB patients as well as relevant EB research and EB training. To date, a causative EB treatment is still lacking.

The current project, called "EB-CLINET", aims at establishing a network of EB centres and EB experts in all European countries. Main goals are the exchange of knowledge concerning EB and to create the basis for upcoming clinical trials.

In order to identify EB centres and EB experts in all European countries we have contacted all known EB experts across Europe. An initial questionnaire has been sent out and can be obtained from Dr. Gabriela Pohla-Gubo (g.pohla-gubo(at)salk.at). To date, specialists out of 28 European countries (marked green in the map) have already answered the questionnaire.

In the future it is hoped to expand the EB-CLINET network beyond the borders of Europe.
