Maternal Substance Use: Consequences, Identification, and Interventions

Prenatal exposure to substances such as alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and opioids has become increasingly common, despite the known risks to fetal and maternal health associated with use of these substances during pregnancy. This review describes the latest information regarding maternal substance use during pregnancy and some of the barriers that may limit the full potential of effective interventions.
