Alcoholic Liver Disease: Pathogenesis and Current Management

As the primary site of alcohol metabolism, the liver is particularly vulnerable to alcohol-induced damage. This article summarizes the mechanisms through which chronic alcohol consumption contributes to the development of various types of alcohol-induced liver damage. It also reviews the spectrum of alcohol-associated liver disease (AALD) and discusses currently used treatment approaches for patients with AALD.
