What is a Respiratory Pathogens Panel?
A respiratory pathogens (RP) panel checks for viruses and bacteria in your respiratory tract. Your respiratory tract is made up of parts of the body involved in breathing and include your lungs, nose, and throat.
There are two ways a provider may take a sample for testing:

Tetanus
Tetanus is a serious illness caused by Clostridium bacteria. The bacteria live in soil, saliva, dust, and manure and can enter your body through a deep cut, like those you might get from stepping on a nail. The infection can lead to "locking" of the jaw making it impossible to open your mouth or swallow. Tetanus is a medical emergency and you need to get treatment in a hospital. A vaccine can prevent tetanus.
