The Toxicology Forum Summer Meeting
NCTR scientists gave three updates at the 40th Annual Summer Meeting of the Toxicology Forum, held July 7-10, 2014, in Aspen, Colorado. The first presentation focused on the ongoing Consortium Linking Academic and Regulatory Insights on the Toxicity of Bisphenol A (CLARITY-BPA). This research project, which is funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health and Safety (NIEHS), is a collaborative effort between FDA, NIEHS, and academic scientists to investigate the toxicity of BPA in a rat model. In the second presentation, recent animal dosimetry and human biomonitoring data were presented to discuss the plausibility of estrogenic mechanisms contributing to the toxicity of BPA. The final presentation focused on the use of computational models to address the endocrine-related risks of perchlorate.
For additional information, please contact Luísa Camacho, Ph.D. (CLARITY-BPA), Daniel Doerge, Ph.D. (estrogenic mechanisms of BPA), and Jeffrey Fisher, Ph.D. (perchlorate modeling), Division of Biochemical Toxicology, FDA/NCTR.
