Breast cancer remains a major driver of innovation in oncology, not least because it is one of the largest treatment markets and is also the most common diagnosis I encounter in my daily rehabilitation work.
In addition to the established oral selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) elacestrant, two additional oral SERDs, camizestrant and imlunestrant, are now available for patients with ESR1 mutations.
Imlunestrant is approved as monotherapy for adults with estrogen receptor-positive, HER2-negative, locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer with an activating ESR1 mutation after progression on endocrine therapy.
