HHS Awards up to $22.9 Million in Planning Grants for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics

SAMHSA, in conjunction with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Assistant Secretary of Planning and Evaluation, awarded the grants to support states throughout the nation in their efforts to improve the behavioral health of their citizens by providing community-based mental and substance use disorder treatment.

JAMA Article Highlights Trends of Nonmedical Prescription Opioid Use and Use Disorders

The article is based on analysis conducted by researchers at SAMHSA, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and shows that nonmedical use of prescription opioids among people aged 18 to 64 decreased from 5.4 percent in 2003 to 4.9 percent in 2013.
