Approximately 1.9 million youth under the age of 18 were arrested in 2009. And in many cases, these young people have unmet needs for behavioral health services.
Recovery residences are just one example of recovery support services that help people recovering from mental and substance use disorders—including serious mental illnesses—get and stay well, find housing, get an education or a job, and live full lives in their communities.
Under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), SAMHSA has helped facilitate programs that are changing the perception and treatment of addiction in Vietnam.
