Today is American Diabetes Association Alert Day, and an estimated 25.6 million Americans age 20 and older were living with undiagnosed diabetes in 2010. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases offers many easy-to-read publications about type 2 diabetes and methods for reducing your risk:

You can also assess your risk for type 2 with the Diabetes Risk Test, from the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP).
