ASPR Makes Strides in Pandemic Influenza Preparedness

This week, ASPR awarded a series of contracts for drugs and vaccines to improve pandemic influenza preparedness.  ASPR is supporting the development of more effective and universal influenza vaccines as well as a monoclonal antibody drug. In addition, ASPR is helping to advance a drug for hospitalized influenza patients that could become the first in a new class of influenza antivirals.

ASPR Awards Contracts to Improve Treatment Options for Burn Victims 

ASPR is sponsoring new medical products to improve treatment options for thermal burn victims during a disaster.  Treatment of burn patients is demanding and few centers are equipped to handle it, which is why ASPR is supporting new products to treat severe burns and a new skin substitute.

HHS launches resources system to improve disaster preparedness

Health and emergency preparedness professionals now have access to the nation’s most comprehensive system of resources designed to help communities better manage the health impacts of disasters.  The Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) features resource materials, a help line, just-in-time suggestions and tools to share information gleaned from real-life experiences in preparing for, responding to and recovering from disasters. Learn More >
