INTRODUCTION
As we release our 2011 Strategic Priorities, we are proud to report on our accomplishments from 2010. In addition to meeting our 85 percent achievement goal by September 30, 2010, we also had met 91 percent of actions with due dates by December 31, 2010. This is a very impressive achievement.
Our 2010 plan identified four priority areas of activity that presented significant opportunities to improve our effectiveness in fulfilling our mission. Many of the items in the plan required staff to go above and beyond their already demanding day-to-day responsibilities.
While we should always stay vigilant for opportunities to improve we cannot and should not sustain an environment of constant change and accelerated effort. And although we must continually invest in being well-prepared for the challenges of tomorrow, we are more modest in our goals for 2011. Our principal objective is to continue or complete the work already started.
This document identifies broad strategies that CDRH will implement in 2011 in alignment with the four priority areas. It includes timeframes associated with each strategy, and specific actions we will take to meet those goals or make significant progress in 2011 achieving those goals.
The statements under each priority and strategy describe the ideal end-state that CDRH aspires to reach by undertaking these activities. Working together to pursue these areas of opportunity, we will strengthen CDRH and increase our ability to protect and promote the public health.
