The Homelessness Resource Center introduces a "Special Section on Parenting and Homelessness" that ran in the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry Vol. 79, No. 3, 2009. This introductory page provides information about earning continuing education credits from the content in this special section. Content: The Homelessness Resource Center is grateful to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and to the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry (AJO) for supporting the development of this special section on parenting and homelessness. We thank Deborah Stone, Ph.D., of the Homeless Programs Branch for her guidance and unwavering support.

Nancy Felipe Russo, Ph.D., editor of the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, welcomed this project from the beginning and was very helpful in facilitating its completion. The Homelessness Resource Center would also like to thank the journal’s editorial staff members for their on going assistance. Dawn Jahn Moses of the National Center on Family Homelessness and Justine Hanson, Ph.D., of the Center for Social Innovation also provided substantial editorial support, and we thank them sincerely. Finally, we thank all the individuals who submitted and reviewed manuscripts for this special section. We appreciate their hard work and commitment to addressing the tragedy of homelessness and the critical role of parents in the lives of their children.

The development of this special section was funded by a generous contract (Homelessness Resource Center, Contract No. HHSS280200600029C) from the Homeless Programs Branch, Di-vision of Service and Systems Improvement, Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
